PRO TIPS
- For the gasket: always use a silicone-safe lubricant such as food-safe white grease - silicone doesn't get along with petroleum-based grease. Don't use a sharp screwdriver to push it in, or the silicone will tear; use the portafilter with the basket removed instead. And there's no need to crank the portafilter tight like you would a hard EPDM gasket.
- For the screen: install it carefully. Over-tightening the screw warps the screen over time, which can cause channeling. Tighten just enough to hold it in place, then run water through it and inspect the flow before locking it down.
